I’ve decided to subject myself to 31 days of horror films for the month of October. It will be a mix of rewatching stuff I haven’t seen in awhile and brand new things. Day 8:
DEATHDREAM aka DEAD OF NIGHT (1974) – dir. Bob Clark
Last year, I got to see Bob Clark’s original BLACK CHRISTMAS at the New Beverly cinema and it blew me away. Clark released DEATHDREAM the same year as well and it had a similar effect. This movie is dealing with how Americans dealt with returning soldiers from Vietnam four years before THE DEER HUNTER. Sleek, creepy, sad, and great social commentary make for an excellent flick. Tied for my favorite discovery of this watch so far. Seek it out.
