I’ve decided to subject myself to 31 days of horror films for the month of October. It will be a mix of rewatching stuff I haven’t seen in a while and brand new things. Day 20:
INFERNO (1980) – dir. Dario Argento
I’m a sucker for Dario Argento films. Their insane brand of dream logic combined with amazing scores set to beautiful murders are my jam. If you never seen seen a film of his change that right now.
I had never seen INFERNO and I was very excited to finally watch it. While all the staples of good Argento are here, the lead, Leigh McCloskey, is so god damn flat. It does bring down the film quite a bit but the rest of it is so much fun that you get over it. The set design is beyond beautiful and you just want to live in this world Argento created.
Keith Emerson’s banging soundtrack is so much fun and all the deaths are crazy enough that you are never bored. An atmospheric film that is just good time from start to finish.
