The thirteenth edition of Mission Comics Trivia may have been the biggest yet. Five full-strength teams competed in what was one of the mostly tightly contested showdowns ever: only ten points separated first from fifth place, and the tiebreaker question came into effect for the first time ever.*

*maybe? Who really keeps track of all this?

With both the Deadpool & Wolverine movie and San Diego Comic Con set to kickoff later this month, the questions revolved around a general theme (but there were plenty of questions about good comics as well). And speaking of the imminent MCU blockbuster, MC+A still has some tickets left for its private screening fundraiser at Alamo Drafthouse on Wednesday, July 31. Snatch some tickets on Eventbrite before they’re all gone!

First place went to It’s Me, Hi, I’m The Dazzler, It’s Me, starring Ben, Kevin, Chris, and Steve. One thing we do keep track of here at Idle Time HQ is enthusiasm and excellence. This marks Ben’s seventh time he’s taken home a gold medal, and Kevin’s fourth (tying him with Dan for second-most all-time). In addition to the usual four-pack of TPB’s in their prize pack, these guys went home with a pair of tickets to the Deadpool fundraiser screening! Now you have even more incentive to go!

You can get Ben’s autograph at the Deadpool screening

Second place, only two points behind the winners, securing their silver medal thanks to their tie-breaker response, were the Wonder Dogs team of Bad Matt, Chris, Ellie, and Emilio. Maybe more significantly, this team took home the variant cover prize pack thanks to their winning entry in the variant question category. With great entries from all five teams, it was a tough call for the judges, but Bad Matt’s “James Wolver-Dean” rose to the top.

Left to right: James Wolver-Dean; The WolverME; Creed (Axis); Vulverine, Product of Weapon Sex; and Wolverine-415

Third place went to Alternative Answers, the team of Dan, David, Jacob, and Aaron. The team name must have had something to do with the fact that every answer came with alternative color commentary. Clearly I allot too much time between questions…

Jacob: “Whaat?” | Dan: “Shh. I got this.”

Now for a chance to test your knowledge. Here’s the quiz in its entirety. Do it without Google, true believer!
