I have to be honest – even though this figures to be one of Marvel’s new signature books, and will probably sell like crazy, I’m not overly enthused by the new direction taken ever since the movie came out. It’s funny, sure, like the movie, but I really miss all the psychedelic space opera stuff that used to fill Marvel’s cosmic books. When Abnett & Lanning created this new iteration of the Guardians, it was grandiose and science-fiction-y first; humorous second. I think Bendis is just following editorial directives to make this book goofy. But he’s rarely let me down, so… still keeping an open mind. – MMDG
