Four months in on Marvel’s major All-New, All-Different relaunch, and we finally get treated to the continuing adventures of Miles Morales. After a significant role in Secret Wars, and testing the waters of his new Marvel universe in the pages of All New All Different Avengers, Spider-Man #1 is the real coming-out party.
And, appropriately, this party is hosted by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli, who introduced us to Miles in 2011.
Just as Bendis’s run on the original Ultimate Spider-Man has become treasured as many comics fans’ first exposure to Stan Lee & Steve Ditko’s wallcrawler, this new Spider-Man figures to do the same for a whole new generation of webheads. (I did my part this past Christmas. Little cousins? Comics all around.)

I thought this book was gonna be a lame female Illuminati, but thankfully, it’s a lot more. Singularity’s origin reminds me a little of when Marvel used Layla Miller in the aftermath of House of M, and I really liked her significance to that world. Though we didn’t get to see the sorceress from Runaways or Dazzler in the first issue, I’m really excited to have them featured in this book. Actually, having Dazzler as a main character will get me to read every damn issue. – RF
The Arcadia portion of Battleworld and the A-Force mini-series was one of the better things to spin out of Secret Wars, and I think it’s cool that this new Singularity character might be the only one to remember that prior reality. Plus, if you had to pick just ONE Runaway to keep seeing in the comics, it was going to be Minoru, right? – MMDG
