Tame Impala – Currents
I’ve liked other stuff by Tame Impala, but when I heard many proud pre-release statements about how this was their “keyboard” album, I knew I might be in trouble. “Keyboard album” is usually code for “we’re Very Serious Musicians now, three albums into a secure recording career, so let’s see how many people will follow us down the rabbit hole of super fucking boring ambient elevator tones.” Even the title is bland. I have listened to this about a dozen times, waiting for it to work its charms on me. I doubt it will get a dozen more.
