Another top seed eliminated, this time in the Canadian region, and it wasn’t even close. The other regional semifinal match was much tighter and, according to one person polled, “will determine the winner of the whole thing” (He’s a big Grimes and Caribou fan).

2015 Tune Tourney’s Sweet Sixteen: Canadia
Yesterday may have been Canada Day, but the Sweet 16 polling in the Canadia bracket of Idle Time’s Tune Tournament kicks off today. Where our northern neighbors were concerned, the last round featured very little drama: four matchups and four blowouts.
2015 TUNE TOURNEY: Canadia Round 2
Time for our northern neighbors to get in on the second-round action. First up is second-seeded Grimes with her Majical Cloudz supporting cast taking on Mac DeMarco’s “Passing Out Pieces.” This may or not mean anything, and I realize poll results are shown in percentages, but digging into the post-game statistics reveal that the first-round contest between DeMarco and Arcade Fire had the smallest number of responses of any of the polls. I’m not a betting man… but it seems like we might be looking at another Grimes blowout…

The polls for the second halves of the Canadian and Californian brackets in the 2015 Tune Tournament are going live today. First up, eight more tracks from our northern neighbors.
Caribou’s Our Love was one of the best album releases last year, and “Can’t Do Without You” is the lead single. It starts its quest for the title with a contest against another 2014 single: “Archie, Marry Me,” off the self-title debut album by Toronto’s Alvvays.
